Uber in Ghana? This should be interesting.
The US based transportation service Uber, has launched its services in Ghana, and is set to officially commence operations on Saturday, June 11.
The company runs the Uber app, which takes orders from consumers and reroutes drivers to them to cart them to their destinations.
For now, the operations of the service would be limited to Accra.
The base fare for the Uber service has been pegged at Ghc 1.70; plus Ghc 1.30 per kilometer and 19 pesewas per minute.
Ghana joins about seven other African countries, including Egypt, Kenya, Morocco, Nigeria and South Africa, to currently run the service- which started in San Francisco, and has since expanded to over 60 nations and 449 cities globally.
