The music video for the first single of Ghanaian duo Reggie and Bollie has hit a milestone, garnering over a million views a fortnight after its release.
The music video, shot on location in Ghana, is the first effort of the duo since their successful X-Factor run that ended up in second place, and a place on Simon Cowell’s Syco Record Label.
‘New Girl’ the single itself is not doing so badly, consistently hovering among the top places in the UK iTunes chart.
After the pair announced their decision to shoot the video in Ghana, they said the rationale was to export Ghanaian culture to the world.
“The great thing is the label said you know what, they’ve done a lot of research on our country Ghana. It’s a beautiful place, they just want to make sure our first video is able to communicate that to the world and so we it will be a lot of tourist attraction for different places.” Reggie told Antoine Mensah on Live Fm.
“They are trying to capture the Ghanaian vibe, the atmosphere, that youthfulness and smiles on the faces of Ghanaians and we so proud that through us people get to see and experience the Ghanaian culture in a very positive way.” he added.
Two weeks in, it seems to be doing exactly that.
