On the occasion of the year’s commemoration of the June 3rd disaster, President Mahama has paid tribute to the memories of those lost, with a promise to fix the issues that led to the disaster.
Exactly a year ago, torrential rains in the capital, coupled with a filling station explosion near circle, led to the worst disaster in the recent history of this country, as close to 200 people lost their lives.
In a post on twitter Friday, the President paid tribute to the fallen, and promised government steps to ensure that never happens again.
“May the souls of those who departed on June 3, 2015 rest in perfect peace. We’ll continue to correct dev’ts that led to the disaster.” The President wrote.
Talk is cheap. Objectively, we have made little progress today, from the situation of a year ago. The floods have already started, we just haven’t had one sustained downpour to the levels as witnessed on June 3, 2015.
