Boxing great Mohammed Ali has been hospitalised, suffering from a respiratory ailment, his representatives have revealed.
Ali, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease decades ago and is in frail health, is described as being in a ‘fair’ condition, as doctors treat his condition.
He is expected to spend at least a few days in hospital.
“Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in fair condition,” his representative Bob Gunnell, said in a written statement.
“A brief hospital stay is expected. At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy.”
74 year old Ali, born Cassius Clay, is a former heavyweight champion of the world, and is generally considered the greatest boxer of all time. His punishing career has left him almost incapacitated in recent years, and he has rarely been seen in public in recent times.
