We are always told Ghana is broke; teachers and other public workers cannot be duly paid and we continue to ask for loans from other countries, yet Ghana Cocoa Board has been found as having spent twenty thousand dollars on a signing ceremony.
The huge amount spent on the ceremony has pushed parliament into investigating a report from the 2015/2016 expenditure of the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) which indicates that the board spent as much as $20,000 to rent a venue for a signing ceremony.
An additional amount of $169,000 was also spent as legal fees among other expenditure.
Certain members of the Minority caucus in Parliament who raised concerns over the 20 thousand dollars expenditure have asked for the Chief Executive Officer of Cocobod, Stephen Opuni to be brought in questioning.
The spending amount was taken out of a $1.8 billion syndicated loan for the 2015/2016 crop season.
