Rapper Soulja Boy has carried out a massive cleaning of his record label, unceremoniously dropping every single artiste currently signed to him.
The rapper, born DeAndre Cortez Way, announced in a brusque message on Twitter Monday that he is dropping all the artists off his label.
“There’s no artist signed to SODMG. I dropped them all. I’m starting off the roster new and clean for 2016,” he tweeted.
The rapper recently signed a lucrative $400m deal with World Poker Fund Holdings, and the timing of that deal and the subsequent announcement of the purge is being viewed as more than a coincidence.
Soulja Boy announced with a later tweet that the purge was to get rid of some ‘snakes’ in his life. The SODMG label, short for ‘Stacks On Deck Money Gang’, was founded by him, and has housed successful acts such as Lil B and Riff Raff in the past.
