It would be difficult to do, but I would absolutely love a research work into this phenomenon to determine if it has any merit to it.
A President that is so bad that people even do not want to pray to their supposedly omnipotent father to do something about him.
A Catholic Priest in Kumasi (no wonder) says conditions in the country has gotten so bad that he notices a drop in enthusiasm whenever he asks his congregation to pray for the President.
Rev. Father Adu Poku said on Atinka Fm Monday that despite the church supposedly being a gathering of people from all walks of life, people seem to universally revile our current President to the point they feel reluctant to pray for him.
“It is surprising to see that people are reluctant to pray for the President in the church which is non-political body.” He said.
“This is a church made up of people from various political divide, not a political rally. This is a church congregation which is a mixture of many political parties but when you ask them to pray, they are reluctant to pray.”
The good preacher added that the hard economic condition is leading a lot of people, especially the youth, to engage in all sorts of unsavoury ways of making money, including using blood money.
He also added that the economic hardships has led to a drop in offertory and gifts that the clergy used to receive from the public.
But then I feel like asking Rev Adu Poku’s congregation that if they don’t pray for the President, how do they expect things to get better? At the very least, they should pray for God to soften Mahama’s heart, much like he hardened Pharaoh’s heart, yh?
