Much maligned comedian David Oscar has officially shed the comedian tag and is venturing into music, specifically, reggae music.
Oscar has often been criticised for his perceived unfunny jokes, a characterisation he once pushed back against by saying his jokes are too complicated for the common man to understand.
In a recent interview on 3Fm, Oscar announced his decision in unequivocal terms.
“I’m a music artiste and I declared on a different platform that I am done with comedy and I think a lot of people missed that.
“It gets to a point where you cannot express certain experiences and certain feelings you have cannot be expressed comedically and being an artiste I’m always in constant search for ways to express myself and I think that music came in at the right time.”
He further rejected the notions that he is turning to music because he failed at comedy.
“I think that I came in at a time to play my role and if you were to measure the success of GH comedy based on the role that some of us played, it has been very successful so I wonder why anybody would think that I am failed comedian that is why am doing music.
Oscar added that his style of music is reggae, and he takes inspiration from artists such as Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Morgan Heritage.
“Most of my songs are all reggae songs including the ones you haven’t heard and my biggest inspiration is reggae music.
