#StraightOuttaJamestown. Singer Mzbel has announced one of her charities, The Belcare Foundation, is focusing on an initiative of getting poor and needy young girls in communities in Old British Accra enrolled in school.
Mzbel said she spent her formative years in the twin communities of Jamestown/Bukom, and thus feels very attached to the community.
The Belcare initiative has already enrolled 16 girls in school, and is aiming to do more through corporate sponsorships.
Aside music, Mzbel runs several other initiatives, including a current campaign with the Electricity Company of Ghana to end illegal connections.
Mzbel explained her foundation’s aims with a post on Facebook.
THE BELCARE FOUNDATION
As part of efforts aimed at maximising Mzbel’s charitable effort, she has set the initiative of the BELCARE Foundation in motion.
The BELCARE Foundation is a social enterprise which seeks to empower, pay school fees and provide school supplies for vulnerable young girls within the Jamestown Community.
Jamestown and Bukom are dear to Mzbel due to the attachement she has built over time, spending her formative years within those communities.
Currently, the BELCARE initiatiave has enrolled 16 girls in schools to help give them competitive advantage in life.
As the benefits of the programme ring out through the community, many more yearn and share the desire to be enrolled. However, there is only much that an individual can do.
The BELCARE Foundation will seek to build strategic partnerships with corporate bodies and institutions in extending the reach of the project. #Mzbel#Charty#BeLCare#BeLCareFoundation
