Former Miss Malaika Ghana Hamamat Montia, who got into trouble with Ghanaians for her dressing at last weekend’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, has placed the dress up for auction.
Montia made the revelation during an appearance on Rhythm A-Z on Joy, saying that the proceeds from the dress would be put towards charity.
The dress is up for sale at $1,220.
Even though she’s already apologised for her dressing, Hamamat took the chance to explain things again.
“I didn’t mean to stir up any controversy with my dress.” she said.
“I work very hard for my body so I wore a dress that I felt comfortable with but didn’t know it would end up the way it did.
“I apologise for the way that picture was presented.”
The former Miss Malaika winner also expressed gratitude for Lydia Forson, who quite strongly and publicly defended her from the condemnation she was receiving.
“People were very harsh but I think it is wonderful for another celebrity to rise in defence of another celebrity.
“I would love to see more celebrities standing up for each other,” she added.
