Floyd Mayweather has been making noises of a potential return for the past few weeks, and now it seems the much hyped retirement was just a temporary event.
In recent days, rumours have been flying around that the Money man could make his return in a potentially explosive fight with MMA opponent, UFC Champion Connor McGregor.
These rumours had been deemed just that, until the boxer released a video in which he copped to starting them. If he was starting these rumours, then a return fight for the undefeated pugilist might not be so farfetched.
“It’s possible. It’s possible. There was a name that was shot at me. But the rumors that y’all have been hearing [are] the rumors I started,” Mayweather said, in the video posted online by FightHype.com.
“It may not be a rumor. Keep your fingers crossed. It may be a boxer versus an MMA fighter. So we just don’t know.”
The brash McGregor has also not kept mute on the issue, tweeting a mock promotional poster for their potential upcoming fight.
Mayweather retired on the record equalling tally of 49-0, and although it was thought he had done it all, it seems he’s eyeing a return. As to how the inter-sport barrier for this fight would be resolved, there is no word at this time.
The only thing certain is that, ‘it’s possible
