The naysayers and doom mongers who said that Ghana has a terrible maintenance culture and that the new Cape Coast stadium would soon be relegated to the scrapheap the Ohene Djan and Baba Yara sports stadiums have been consigned to- have actually been proven right.
On the day of its inauguration, photos showed some of those in the stadium gleefully standing on the seats, and it seems the destruction of Ghana’s newest edifice continues.
New photos show portions of the pavement outside the stadium have been destroyed, after a fire truck passed on it.
At this rate, one must shudder at what must be left of the stadium- which was built by the Chinese in honour of the late President Mahama– in a year’s time.
