Pay-For-Grades Scandal Uncovered At UPSA- Report

Ghanaians love nothing more than complaining about the corruption in government, when in actuality it is a canker that permeates the entire society top to bottom.
Our leaders are Ghanaians as well, aren’t they? They are as much products of the society they emerged from as the rest of us.
A report by Joy news has purportedly uncovered a pay for grades scheme being run out of the University for Professional Studies, Accra. (formerly Institute of Professional Studies)
According to the report, students who had dire grades paid amounts ranging from Ghc 1,500 to Ghc 4,000 to one Paul Danquah, who works in IT, to change those grades to better ones.
The ruse was uncovered by the Academic Affairs Director, and reported to management, who launched an investigation. An external audit, as well as a subsequent BNI investigation, probed further into the scandal and implicated a high ranking official of the school.
Twenty two students, all in their final year, are alleged to have patronised the pay for grades facility. Ten have confessed to their involvement.
