Despite being deeply mired in managerial and administrative scuffles, Accra Hearts of Oak made a return to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a hard fought 2-1 win over champions Ashantigold in Obuasi.
Dauda Cosmos scored a second half brace to give Kenichi Yatsuhashi’s stalling side an important lead, which they stubbornly held onto, despite Ashgold pulling one back through Nafiu Awudu.
The win comes as the team is embroiled in a bitter battle between the coach and the management, over lack of payments made to players, the coach and his staff. Kenichi’s position was as such seen as jeopardised, after allegedly showing disrespect towards the management- so this was a much needed win, which halted a three game winless run for the side since losing to leaders Wa All Stars.
All Stars kept their lead at the top intact, with a comfortable 2-0 win over Inter Allies. Hearts’ rivals Asante Kotoko lost ground again, with a disappointing 1-0 home loss to New Edubiase United.
