Legendary British director Guy Hamilton, who has four Bond movies to his name throughout his career, has unfortunately passed away at the age of 93.
He died on earlier this week at a hospital in Majorca, Spain, where he has been a long time resident, The Associated Press reports.
Hamilton’s career spanned several decades, and included movies such as ‘The Battle of Britain’ and ‘Force 10 From Navarone’. However, it was his work in the James Bond franchise that gained him the most accolades. He directed ‘Goldfinger’, ‘Diamonds Are Forever’, ‘Live and Let Die’ and ‘The Man with The Golden Gun’ in the 60’s and 70’s.
“We mourn the loss of our dear friend Guy Hamilton who firmly distilled the Bond formula in his much celebrated direction of Goldfinger and continued to entertain audiences with Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun.” The franchise’s producers EON said in a statement.
“We celebrate his enormous contribution to the Bond films.”
