Back in the news is Nayele Ametefeh, the infamous drug courier who was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport, trying to smuggle a dozen kilos of cocaine into the country.
Nayele, who’s currently serving an eight year sentence for the crime, has had her assets ordered seized by an Accra High Court.
The Ghanaian Times reported Monday that the court reached the verdict that her assets be confiscated, which at this point includes the Night Angels Enterpise in Dzorwulu, plus six different bank accounts with Fidelity banks.
The Narcotics Control Board has indicated its readiness to comply with the court’s order, and serve the current convict with the directive.
Nayele, aka Ruby Appiah, was arrested late 2014, and was sentenced to eight years after trial the following year. There was controversy some time back when some officials tried to confiscate her properties without a court order. That seems to have been issued at this point.
