Dumsor
Whilst we are getting used to the idea of no-dumsor laced with intermittent relapses, circumstances are conspiring to send us back to the dark times of a few months ago.
Deputy Minister of Power, John Jinapor, has revealed that some hydro plants in the country might need to be placed on rest sometime within the next fortnight. That decision, coupled with the recent shutdown of the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah, is likely to lead to a considerable shortfall in power supply, which is certain to trigger another round of load shedding.
Jinapor made the revelation during an appearance on Citi Fm Friday.
“In the next few weeks, it is a tight situation for us and we can have some deficit. It is very likely we will have deficit… it’s likely.” the Deputy Minister said.
Ghanaians are just getting used to the idea of no dumsor, but it seems this government cannot plan ahead to save their lives. The power crisis of the past few years is likely to play a crucial role in the upcoming elections, and a relapse is likely to reap more negative feedback for this government (if that’s even possible at this point)
