‘Mind of Mine’, the debut solo effort of former One Directioner Zayn Malik, has risen to number one on the UK albums chart.
Malik’s album knocked 2015 darling ’25’ off the top, making 4,000 more sales in the week since its release. Adele’s album had been breaking any and all records since its release late last year.
‘Mind of Mine’, released on the 26th of March, marks Malik’s first project since leaving the award winning boy band last year. Its opening week performance bodes well for his future prospects.
“I can’t believe that I have managed to achieve this as a solo artist,” he told the official chart company on the milestone.
“It’s mind-blowing to me.” He added. “I don’t take the support I have received for granted. My life at 23 could have been very different.”
Joe Bonamassa’s ‘Blues of Desperation’, Birdy’s ‘Beautiful Lies’ and Justin Bieber’s ‘Purpose’ rounds out the album top five.
