The draw for the Under-20 Women’s World Cup, slated for Papua New Guinea later this year, was held by FIFA on Thursday, throwing up some interesting pairings for the upcoming mundial.
Ghana’s Black Princesses were handed a tough draw, placed in Group D alongside France, New Zealand and the USA.
Fellow African representatives Nigeria did not have it easy either. The Super Falconets ended up with Spain, Canada and Japan as their opponents.
But the proverbial ‘Group of Death’ is Group A, where first time hosts Papua New Guinea would be ruing their luck. Their group includes perennial women’s football powerhouses Brazil, Sweden and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea).
The 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup would be held in Papua New Guinea, set to run from 13th November to 3rd December.
