Say Hello To Another Ghanaian Bigot- Moses Foh Amoaning Says Gays Should Not Have Human Rights

Moses-Foh-Amoaning
It’s kind of an oxymoron to say human beings cannot claim human rights, isn’t it? But then when religion enters the discourse, people turn out to be not so bright.
Moses Foh-Amoaning, ace broadcaster and lawyer, says homos*xuals cannot claim any human rights because the UN declaration on Human Rights and Ghana’s constitution has not granted them any such rights.
Foh-Amoaning is now executive secretary of a group calling itself the ‘National Coalition for Proper Human S*xual Rights and Family Values’. I’m a little amused by how their name sounds like something a right-wing extremist group in the US would have come up with.
Speaking at a conference organised by the group, Foh-Amoaning said homos*xuality is a ‘human waekness’ which should not be legitimised.
The Ghana News Agency reports…

Mr. Foh-Amoaning made these remarks during a Regional consultative meeting with Traditional Councils to draw attention to the growing threat of lesbian, gay, bis*xual and trans-sexual (LGBT) right activism in the country.
The coalition is a mix of Christian and Para Christian bodies, the Muslim society and other entities aimed at ensuring the preservation of sexual and family values.
The meeting, which was attended by the clergy, Muslim leaders, School chaplains, opinion leaders and members of the Oguaa Traditional Council, was organised jointly by Emmanuel University and the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values.
It was on the theme “Uniting to combat the scourge of Homosexual (LGBT RIGHTS) Activism in Ghana, the Tripartite Strategy”.
Mr. Foh-Amoaning, who is also a senior Law lecturer at the Ghana School of Law, said homosexuality was a human weakness and legalizing it would mean elevating what was clearly a human wrong into human Rights and insisted “that need not to happen in Africa”.
He stressed that, it could not be legally tenable simply because someone had a propensity to a certain sexual orientation for that orientation to be elevated into human rights and be protected by the law and added that the law had the duty to protect the society.
The law lecturer questioned why people were being prosecuted for engaging in sodomy which was a similar sexual orientation but homosexuals were not, and pointed out that so far as sodomy remained an offense, so should homosexuality.
Mr. Foh-Amoaning said the attempt by the Western World to force African countries to accept homosexuality was a form of neocolonialism aimed at enslaving the mindset of black people and challenged African leaders not to succumb to the pressure.
“Why is polygamy a criminal offence in the United States, but it is normal in Ghana, so what right has anyone got to tell us not to criminalise homosexuality.
He said there was no scientific, theological and legal or any psychiatric basis for homosexuality and for that matter Africa and the rest of the World must be courageous enough to speak against it.

Are we sure this guy is a lawyer?
Of course bigamy is a criminal offence in Ghana, under our secular laws. Only traditional marriages are polygamous, so that’s a pretty fatuous argument. And the fact that the UN Declaration did not mention s*xuality is largely irrelevant, as it was ratified after World War II, when blacks were still second class citizens in some countries- obviously humanity was still evolving at that point. And most of the signatories have moved away from this archaic mentality he is espousing, except the most close-minded nations like crazy Islamic theorcracies or bigoted Africans whose mind has been polluted by Christianity.
Which takes me to my next point, this guy said “the attempt by the Western World to force African countries to accept homosexuality was a form of neocolonialism aimed at enslaving the mindset of black people” Said the guy following a religion that was forced on Africans as a form of COLONIALISM, not any ‘neo’ bullsh*t. Does any Ghanaian have any conception of irony at all, when they raise this point? And I thought he wanted us to follow the UN Declaration, whose drafting was mostly led by Western nations, isn’t that some form of ‘neo-colonialism’.
About the scientific backing, no credible scientist would tell you homos*xuality is a choice, the fact that it occurs in nature pretty much closes that door. This guy is wrong on so many positions, it’s not even funny anymore. But this pretty much occurs when bright people let their religious beliefs, rather than their intellect, inform their positions.
It’s amazing that a law lecturer would take a mike and make these embarrassing pronouncements. But he’s in good company, as Dr Otabil and Manasseh Azure would attest to. The smartest people in this country would continue to make a fool out of themselves, so long as they don’t follow the facts, but rather wallow blindly in their religious fuelled bigotry.
The religion brought to them by thewhite man, by the way.

  1. Chris, as a gay boy like you, your intolerance to religious groups is shocking almost as if you are ignorant to the fact gay, gender, religion, disability and the rest are all protected under the same equality act yet you find it so necessary to insult religious groups under every given opportunity and cry wolf when they do the same to gays. how many times have you sat here and insulted these religious groups and their God they believe so much in?? it is about you admit that there is no difference between you and these religious fanatic as you called them way of thinking.

  2. Bravo to Amoaning. He is a Ghanaians and African. Can you get it into your head turned obtuse by homosexuality, that our culture and values abhor homosexuality. It is a human frailty which should be tolerated, but certainly not encouraged. European culture is to all intents and purposes decadent.

  3. Mr Chris Vincent was very charitable in this piece compared to how he has bashed others for their senseless stands. I’ll proceed to however say what Chris was so charitable and left out from his write up. Mr Foh Amoaning as an albino should have know how it feels first hand to b seen as inferior or a second class citizen. Having him an albino say that a group of people don’t deserve human rights is laughable to say the least. He should champion albino rights to live and leave gay people alone
