Former hiplife artiste and now son of Christ, Yaw Siki, who is struggling with finances these days, has rejected an offer of help from UK based gospel singer Sonnie Badu.
Yaw Siki said he’s rejecting the offer because Badu made it public, which runs contrary to Jesus’ teaching that good should be done without trumpeting it in public.
Yaw Siki turned to Christ after surviving a horrific accident a few years ago, and has recently been speaking out about how becoming a preacher has led to many friends abandoning him, meaning he can barely get by these days.
However, when Sonnie Badu offered to help, Siki has turned it down.
“I’m not saying that it was his intention to get praises for the intended act but it wasn’t right to make it known to everyone.” He tolf Graphic Showbiz.
“I know that life hasn’t been easy since I gave my life to Christ but the truth is that, I just had to reject my senior brother’s offer,” he said, adding his inspiration for that was Mathew 6:1-4.
“That isn’t to say that I don’t appreciate it but of what good is a blessing when you make your good deeds public for human praise.
“If he truly wanted to assist, he could have contacted me first without making it public. I’m not in support of that because my Christian beliefs are against that so upon careful consideration, I had to turn down the offer,” he said.
A bemused Sonnie Badu reacted to Siki’s refusal of the offer on Instagram, saying that the donation would be channelled to another cause then. He said the only reason the offer was made public was because they discovered his plight online.
Wise Decision Yaw.. So Sonnie Badu, you read it online so you have to make the donation online huh? smh. looking looking face christianity.
John! Long time. True talk tho. You found out online does not mean you should make it public. You could have called him and done it personally. The bible even says in Matt 6:2
“So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
