Actor John Dumelo recently confirmed to GhanaCelebrities.Com editor Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri, during the latter’s last trip to Ghana, that he would soon hit the campaign trail for the ruling NDC.
Dumelo has long been a supporter of the party, and of current President John Mahama; which is one major reason he recently got into a nasty feud with his close friend Yvonne Nelson. But concerning this year’s elections, it looks like he would be taking a very prominent role in campaigning to maintain the ruling government.
The NDC organised a health walk in Hohoe in the Volta Region Monday, and John Dumelo made an appearance. The walk dubbed ‘Walk for JM’, was aimed at getting the youth invested in the coming campaign. Aside John Dumelo, top government officials like Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Interior Minister Prosper Bani, and former ministers Dzifa Ativor and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, were all present.
Speaking to the crowd, Dumelo called on them to stand strong, and hold the fort for the party to win re-election.
“I’m glad that you have all joined in the walk, that’s the same way we will to maintain this present government.” He said.
“You have to keep the fire burning, you don’t have to lose guard. They will throw punches at you, don’t have to worry. You have to hold the fort because at the end of the day, we want development for the country and it’s the youth that will make it happen, we hold the power.”
Dumelo later told reporters that he plans to run for President one day. For now though, he just wants us to give John Dramani Mahama a further four years in office.
