The Producer of the legendary rock band, The Beatles, Sir George Martin, passed away early Wednesday morning at age 90.
Whilst his death reverberated through the music world, a sad day for all, it had another level of unintended consequence.
Due to a coincidence of sharing a name with George R.R Martin- the author of ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’, which is the source material for the hit show Game of Thrones- fans of the books and tv show had their own huge scare, thinking Martin had left this world.
That has always been one of Thrones’ fans worst nightmares. Martin has been a slow writer for ages, to the point the Tv show has overtaken the books. At 67, some fans live in mortal fear that he might die and not get to finish the series.
And that came to the fore with news of the death of the Beatles’ producer. Most took to twitter to express that fear.
@DetInspector I knew he’d die before writing that book

Is it wrong that I’m pleased that it’s 90yr old Beatles job done George Martin, not morbidly obese #GoT work to do George Martin?

George Martin is dead. Not to be confused with George R R Martin who is still alive. And still writing. Just very, very, VERY slowly.
