Donald J. Trump is on an inexorable march towards the White House.
The billionaire real estate mogul and reality TV star has galloped to yet another victory in the Republican Presidential Candidate race, this time sweeping the Nevada caucuses by well over 20 percentage points.
Trump has picked up 45.9% of Tuesday night’s votes, well ahead of Marco Rubio in second with 22.9%. With all of the precincts reporting in, the Donaldhas picked up his third primary victory after four contests.
Texas senator Ted Cruz finished closely behind Rubio, with 21.4%. Retired neurosurgeon Dr Ben Carson and Ohio Governor John Kasich finished way behind, garnering 4.8% and 3.6% respectively. The campaigns of these two are on life support.
Trump has held this race by the scruff of the neck from the word go, and with every successive state that votes, doesn’t look like relinquishing his lead. The combatants would now look forward to March 1, dubbed Super Tuesday- when 11 states go to the polls to elect their Republican nominee for President. Polls show Trump hold significant leads in most of the Super Tuesday states.
People should start getting used to the idea that there just might be a President Donald Trump in the White House come 2017.
