A Lock Of John Lennon’s Hair Sold For $35,000 At Auction

A lock of Beatles icon John Lennon’s hair was put up for auction and fetched the not so insignificant price of $35,000.
The four inch lock of hair was cut off Lennon’s head by a German barber in 1966, right before the filming of the war flick ‘How I Won The War’, in which Lennon starred.
The item was sold to a British collector of memorabilia in the auction held by Heritage Auction in Dallas, Texas.
“It was a good size with quite a lot of strands,” spokesman Garry Schrum told the BBC.
“This is the largest lock of John Lennon’s hair ever offered at auction and this world record price is a lasting testament to the world’s more than 50-year love affair and fascination with Lennon and the Beatles,” he continued.
Other items auctioned, according to the Guardian: “a signed head-and-shoulders portrait, taken before the haircut, sold for $2,125…a signed photograph of the Beatles that fetched $42,500 and an unused ticket for the band’s first US concert in Washington DC in 1964, which fetched $30,000.”
