Donald Trump has a very good chance of becoming the next US President, and a lot of people are not very comfortable with that.
The Republican frontrunner for President has insulted almost every minority in the country since launching his bid- women, the disabled, Hispanics, Muslims- and a lot of people are not comfortable with his and his supporters barely concealed racist, bigoted, and xenophobic vibes.
Taking advantage of that, a Canadian island is calling for uncomfortable US citizens who might want to leave the country in case of a Trump win to make Cape Breton island their point of call. One enthusiastic resident has set up a website to make the case to Americans who might want to make the trip up north if Trump wins in November.
“Hi Americans. Donald Trump may become the next president of your country. If that happens, and you decide to get the hell out of there, might I suggest moving to Cape Breton Island?” the statement on the site reads.
“Don’t wait until Election Day to find somewhere else to live!
“Start now – that way, on Election Day, you just hop on a bus to start your new life in Cape Breton, where women can get abortions, Muslim people can roam freely and the only ‘walls’ are holding up the roofs of our extremely affordable houses.”
“We are an island about the same size as the Hawaiian Big Island on the east coast of Canada,” the pitch continues. “We always rank high on travel magazine lists of beautiful islands, but we are experiencing a bit of a population problem at the moment.
“We need people [and] we need you! This is not a joke! See for yourself – you belong here on Cape Breton Island, where healthcare is free, you know your neighbors and they look out for you and nobody has a hand gun.”
You can check out the rest of the reasons why you need to move to Cape Breton right here. It sounds like a lovely place, and with the way the elections are shaping up, a lot of Americans might actually take them up on that offer.
