Kanye West released his album, the one that underwent so many name changes that by the end everyone had lost interest, to much fanfare on February 11.
Being Kanye though, the album hasn’t been out for a day and already the controversies are piling up.
On one of the songs from ‘The Life of Pablo’, ‘Famous’, Yeezy raps that he made Taylor Swift famous. This probably stems from his interruption of her acceptance of an MTV award way back in 2009.
His words were… “I feel like me and Taylor might still have s*x, I made that b**ch famous.”
TMZ initially reported that Kanye West called Swift to make her aware of the lyric, and to ask for her blessing to use it. However, a rep for the singer disrupted that turn of events, telling the tabloid that:
“Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message. Taylor was never made aware of the actual lyric, ‘I made that b**ch famous.'”
But Kanye being Kanye, he took to twitter to attempt clearing up the entire issue. He disputed Taylor’s accounts of issues, saying he did call her to get her permission for the line, and she agreed to its inclusion because she thought it was funny. He even said she came up with the lyric herself!
He also goes on to add that b**tch is an endearing term in hiphop, and not meant as a diss.
T.L.O.P is set for full release February 12, after being premiered on Feb 11 as part of the Yeezy 3 show.
