Kwesi Pratt has given voice to the frustration of a huge chunk of the residents of the capital, and millions of others nationwide- by complaining about the huge status given to the visit of Pastor Chris Oyaklihome, both by citizenry and by the authorities.
Several roads in the capital have been closed to accommodate a program being held by the Christ Embassy church at the Black Star Square today, inconveniencing many motorists. Speaking on Peace Fm, Kwesi Pratt wondered why all the hullabaloo over a simple crusade, and why the decision was taken to hold the rally on a Friday when it is a very busy day for motorists.
“Why are we doing all this, as if it’s a Presidential visit!” the enraged journalist said.
“Do all you want to, I’m not bothered… but to use the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park is so wrong. I’m totally shocked about the way we are treating this visit, as if it’s Obama coming to Ghana. We have no respect for our history… I’m so so angry.” The fierce Nkrumahist added.
“Fridays are very busy for Ghanaians, in terms of movement, Police sometimes based on the Public Order Act; prevent certain events like demonstration etc from taking place because the day of the event may not be favourable. Why should this event occur on a Friday which is already a bad day? Why was it not postponed to Saturday or Sunday, those days would have been better.
“We’ll see the huge discomfort that this road block will bring. This will have implications on business and other activities” he added.
The Night of Bliss program being held by Oyaklihome’s Christ Embassy church has caused not only a huge disruption in traffic activities, but perhaps a drop in productivity as many people have been present at the grounds since Friday morning, despite the program slated for 1800 GMT.
