KNUST Graduate On Trial For Threatening On Facebook To Kill US' Ambassador To Ghana

US Ambassador to Ghana- Robert Porter Jackson

It is often quite easy to forget that social media is open to everyone, and therefore what you post under your name can have far reaching consequences than you ever intend.
A recent graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and current National Service Person, Jones Kyei Nyarko, has discovered this the hard way as he’s currently on trial for threatening to kill the US ambassador to Ghana.
Robert Porter Johnson just arrived last month to take up his new post, yet has already had a threat on his life, albeit on Facebook.
The US Embassy page, on January 15, posted news of the ambassador’s appointment and arrival in the country, and it appeared on the suspect’s timeline. Upon viewing it, he left this comment under it…
“Who cares! All whites are bad. I would shoot him (the ambassador) if I should see him.”
The Embassy then reported the threat to police, who then arrested the suspect- he’s currently carrying out his service at the Ejisu M/A Experimental School.
He was arraigned before the Accra High Court, and pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the sum of Ghc 500,000 with two sureties, whilst the case has been adjourned to February 19, 2016.
Yh we might joke with some things, but these white people take everything seriously. This should be some kind of wake up call for the content we post online.
