Create a savings account
And automate a percentage of your cash flow into a separate account for savings. This will create a consistency about your saving habit, the benefit of which you will appreciate in the long run. Saving can be somewhat difficult to keep up with as a spending habit that features no priorities could consume the numerous possibilities of disposable income being channeled into a savings fund. Is a constant cash flow into your savings account a problem? Think no further.
You can take advantage of the items you have in your possession that you hardly need. Instead of giving them out for free (as most Ghanaians will immediately think about doing) log onto OLX, Tonaton or even Google trader’s website, create an account and start selling ASAP. All of these proceeds will go to boost your savings account. Do not think that selling our belongings is a sign of poverty (as those Ghanaian movies of old made it appear). What about those rich people on eBay?
Investing is your best friend
I know, I know. Those terms like ‘liquidity’, ‘dividends’ and those other horrific terms can scare the daylights out of you. As humans, we fear what we do not know. Instead of making it a point to open ourselves about learning more (as is Bill Gates’ habit and a weapon), we lock ourselves up in the quiet dark of the ignorance we are used to.
How in God’s name can you become richer than you were before if you are not willing to step into the unknown and push your limits? No. I never said you should become an entrepreneur (that would not be bad, though). Even in the comfort of your office, you can become conscious of investing with all the tips and tricks. It is the easiest way any honest, hardworking person can make more money in my opinion. Start with treasury bills.
Then move on to explore your options on the stock market if you want to go there. A lot of real estate companies offer investment options and that industry is a hotcake if you asked me. The sky is an option. Go on ad grow your money. Let your money work for you.
