Rap mogul and business entrepreneur Jay-Z is set to take some grief from his former business partners, with perfume company Parlux fragrances getting ready to sue him.
Parlux partnered with Jay for the Gold Jay Z line of fragrance, which was released in 2013. The partnership called for publicity efforts from the rapper to put it across to the public, but he failed to keep up his end of the bargain.
According to TMZ, the infuriated company has therefore recorded losses on the product, and are thus suing the rapper for $18m.
In the gossip site’s words; “Jay was supposed to do more (to promote the product)– like make social media posts and promotional appearances, but he declined… He (also) refused to appear at GMA, Macy’s and in Women’s Wear Daily to pump up the scent.
“Further, there was supposed to be a line of follow-up fragrances that Jay helped develop, but according to the suit … he dodged meetings and the new colognes never got off the ground.”
The company expected revenues to the tune of $50m, but have rather lost money on the whole deal.
