Oscar nominee Mark Ruffalo says he may also boycott this year’s Oscars due to lack of diversity.
In an interview with BBC today, Mark, who is nominated for Best Supporting Actor in his role for ‘Spotlight, dished about racism and said he is contemplating boycotting the 2016 Academy Awards.
“It isn’t just the Academy Awards,” he said. “The entire American system is rife with a kind of white privileged racism that goes into our justice system.”
When quizzed whether he will be attending the Oscars, he said he is “weighing it”.
He added: “I woke up in the morning thinking, what is the right way to do this? Because if you look at Martin Luther King’s legacy, what he was saying was, the good people who don’t act are much worse than the people, the wrongdoers that are purposely not acting and don’t know the right way.”
