Tanzanian President Reportedly Bans Mini-Skirts As A Measure To Curb New HIV Infections

Tanzania’s new President John Magufuli has earned a reputation as a tough man who takes serious measures to cure the rot in his country, but he seems to have missed the mark with this latest one.
According to various reports, the man nicknamed ‘The Bulldozer’ has introduced a new measure aimed at curbing the rampant spread of HIV/AIDS- banning the wearing of miniskirts by women.
According to TimesLive South Africa, the decision by the President is to make a dent in the HIV pandemic. Women have three weeks to get rid of these skirts.
It is a highly debatable measure, since if you are listing the measures needed to fight spread of HIV, miniskirts is not even on the list. People get infected due to having unprotected s*x with an infected partner; these people would have s*x whether the women are in miniskirts or not.
John Magufuli has really introduced great measures since taking office- cutting government spending, personally taking part in cleaning the country as an example, many other measures. But like most African males steeped in patriarchy, he fails to see that a problem generates from both s*xes, rather than solely being the fault of females.
