24 Reboot: Fox Orders New Season With The Same Format But An Entirely Different Cast

Kiefer Sutherland played Jack Bauer in the original series

For eight years Kiefer Sutherland played the enigmatic Jack Bauer in the hit Fox series ‘24’; and fans just could not get enough of it.
The show did so well that a reboot was ordered for last year, which starred Sutherland reprising his Jack Bauer role, and ended up being another fan favourite.
Perhaps not ready to give up on the concept, the network has requested a new pilot based on the same 24 hours format. 24: Legacy would feature an entirely different cast, including a new hero- but would retain the Los Angeles based Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) and the nerve wracking 24 hours, all action format.
Tv line reports…
“According to Fox, the project will center on a military hero who encounters a troubled return to the U.S., compelling him to ask CTU for help in saving his life, and stopping what potentially could be one of the largest-scale terror attacks on American soil. The hero in question, Eric Carter (aka the ‘new Jack Bauer’) will be African-American; casting is currently underway.”
“There’s a time jump, a new organization, a completely different story,” said Fox co-chairman and CEO Dana Walden at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena. “It’s a contemporary story about the potential to activate sleeper cells in the United States. There are nods in the pilot to prior CTU agents, but no ongoing characters.”
The new show would run for 12 episodes, similar to 24: Live Another Day, the reboot of the original show that aired last year. The pilot would be developed by 24 alum Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz, with Brian Grazer as executive producer. Stephen Hopkins, who directed the original 24 pilots, is on board to direct 24: Legacy. Kiefer Sutherland might be given a creative role, but would not appear on-screen.
24: Legacy is produced by 20th Century Fox Television, Imagine Television and Gordon’s Teakwood Lane Productions.
