President John Dramani Mahama has stepped in to reward the taxi driver who foiled a recent armed robbery attack on a Koala employee at Cantonments by knocking down the robbers who tried to escape with his taxi with a house.
The bravery of the taxi-driver has turned into a jackpot.
Ghana’s Vice President K. B. Amissah-Arthur made it known to the taxi driver, Nana Yaw, when he hosted him today at the Flagstaff House that the President appreciates his efforts and he has decided to honor him with a house.
The taxi driver chased down two robbers, who had shot a young lady to rob her of money on a motorbike- and mowed them down with his taxi.
The robbers sustained varying degrees of injuries from the collision, but the taxi was also mangled. The robbers also kept shooting even whilst wounded, and it was the intervention of an army officer which led to their arrest.
Already, because his taxi was destroyed while pursing the public good, the police have heeded to calls for him to be rewarded.
According to Director General of the Police CID DCOP Prosper Abloh, the IGP has directed for the driver and others who helped in the operation to be rewarded for their help.
And Koala, where the young lady who was attacked works has also said they will reward him with a new taxi. Now the president of Ghana is topping it with a house for him.
