Porcupine Warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko picked up the trophy for the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) G6 pre-season tournament with a narrow 1-0 win over Aduana Stars.
Burkinabe international Halipha Sedego scored a second half penalty to hand the competition to the Kumasi based giants.
Aduana had earlier missed a penalty, and a fierce second half comeback failed to materialise as Kotoko held on, largely due to the brilliance of goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi.
The tournament, which took place at the Essipong sports stadium in Sekondi-Takoradi, served as a unique training opportunity for the nation’s top sides ahead of the commencement of the season.
Accra Hearts of Oak, still acclimatising under new Japanese boss Kenichi Yatsuhashi, had a poor tournament, picking up just one point from their two group games and exiting without scoring a goal.
