Mexican Drug Lord 'El Chapo' Re-Arrested And Returned To The Same Prison He Escaped From

You might recall notorious Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman, fondly nicknamed ‘El Chapo’- who recently escaped from the maximum security Altiplano prison in Central Mexico.
Guzman, who had orchestrated other escapes in the past- slipped through a small hole in the shower floor, and then climbed down a 32 foot ladder into a mile long tunnel, emerging at an abandoned construction site.
Police captured him Friday, in a raid on a house in the town of Los Mochis, located in his home state of Sinaloa.
According to MailOnline, “Five cartel gangsters were killed and another six were arrested in the raid, while one Mexican marine sustained non-life-threatening injuries. A vast arsenal of weapons was seized, including rocket launchers, machine guns and armored vehicles.”
El Chapo’s right-hand man ‘El Cholo’, was also captured in the raid.
Mexican marines, after parading the recaptured drug baron before journalists, then took him on a helicopter ride, to drop him back at the Altiplano jail he had escaped from.
According to the BBC, Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto described Guzman’s arrest as a “victory for the rule of law”.
