Guantanamo Bay

Following the panic and social media chaos about Ghana having agreed to resettle two Gitmo prisoners who were held at the bay for almost 14 years in a deal with United States, the US Embassy in Ghana has stepped in to assure Ghanaians not to be worried.
The Embassy has said that “…If they were seen as active in AI Qaeda in the past, over the course of time they are no longer active in that area.  We don’t think Ghana is doing anything dangerous to invite any attacks from terrorists.”
Speaking to KasapaFm this morning, the Counselor for the US Embassy in Ghana Daniel Fennell said “all the security implications have been cleared concerning the two ex-detainees of the Guantanamo Bay, hence Ghana won’t be at risk housing them.”
“We don’t think of them as terrorists, we think of them as detainees….under the circumstances it is not possible for them to go back to Yemen and Ghana accepted to help and the US is very grateful,” he said.
Meanwhile several people including FOX News Security experts and a British Military officer GhanaCelebrities.Com spoke to are not at ease with the detainees’ resettlement in Ghana for various reasons.
