Have you seen those makola women? The inventiveness, the skill and the intrepidity which we they run their businesses is a sight to behold.
Some of those women are probably richer than anyone you’ll find in Ghana’s middle class.
This government has been digging Ghana into a bigger hole progressively over the past four years, with increased debt, an economy crippled by dumsor, and the wholesale depreciation of our cedi. I would contend an SHS student with a rudimentary understanding of economics would run this country better than this government.
Fuel prices are expected to go up by 27% today due to a new petroleum levy introduced by government. This would inevitably lead to increase of transport fares, and the The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers Ghana (COPEC), are pissed about that.
Executive Secretary Duncan Amoah, speaking on Adom Fm’s Morning Show on Monday, railed against the new levy which has raised petroleum prices. He called the energy bill ‘naked robbery’, and threatened a protest by his group if government does not reconsider.
“This government only enjoys subjecting Ghanaians to total hardship. We won’t accept any policies that will not augur well for the wellbeing of Ghanaians.” he fumed.
An agitated Amoah added that even a petty trader from Makola would do a better job than JDM and his cronies.
“A Makola woman can even manage our country more than what this government is doing” he added.
“Government should withdraw the energy bill or review it again else we will protest against them”.
