Rapper The Game is a $100,000 poorer, after losing a lawsuit of assault filed against him by an off-duty cop he punched during a basketball game.
The incident occurred in March last year, when Onyebuhi Awaji, a police officer, was participating in a game of basketball that also involved the artiste.
The Game punched the officer during the game, and unfortunately for him, it was all caught on video.
Awaji sued for assault, but The Game refused to present a defence in the case. So the judge ruled against him by default, ordering the rapper to pay $100,000 to the officer in damages.
$60,000 is to cover the damages suffered by the plaintiff, whilst the rest is to serve as a deterrent to the rapper from engaging in such actions in the future.
Considering his wealth, and that he did not bother replying to the suit, that might not deter him at all in the future.
