Well, when I wrote the story on dumsor being over, I theorised that it would take at least a couple of weeks for the sh*t to hit the fan- but it actually took less than 24 hours.
On Wednesday December 30, government through the power minister announced that the four year running load shedding exercise was finally over. Dr Kwabena Donkor therefore ostensibly, had beaten the deadline of December 31 he put down to solve the dumsor or resign.
However, a few hours after his statement, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDco) contradicted him, announcing that whilst generation meets demand at the moment, the dumsor cannot be realistically said to be over.
So, it seems his haste to make an announcement has bitten him in the backside, as government has reportedly ordered Dr Donkor to resign today or face the sack.
This report by Starrfmonline postulates that by the end of business today, Ghanains should know the fate of our Power Minister. He has two very limited options- which are either to resign his post or be sacked.
Although, if at this point it is pretty clear the power crisis has not been solved, what is the use of a few hours ultimatum? Just fire his a**.
