Ghana Movie Awards, the annual award scheme instituted to award excellence in Ghana’s movie industry is currently not in actress-Yvonne Okoro’s good books, perhaps that’s the case for many other Ghanaian actors.
Actress-Yvonne Okoro stopped over at Live Fm as she promotes her soon to be premiered movie-‘Ghana Must Go’ in Accra—and during a chit chat with the host of 360Live-Giovani Caleb, she made it clear that Ghana Movie Awards to her is sort of a scam.
The actress recounted her experience of having won Best Actress in 2010—when the same award was given to two other people. And asked; “which awards honors two or more people at the same time?”
Yvonne Okoro did not end there, she said, she will never submit her movie to be considered in the award scheme because it’s a family and friends affair—something she does not think would ever change.
According to Okoro, she has spoken to the CEO of the award scheme-Mr. Fred Nuamah on several occasions on how to get things right but Fred does not seem to want to fix the award scheme.
Yvonne Okoro’s latest movie ‘Ghana Must Go’ will premiere on 2nd January, 2016 at the SilverBird Cinemas, Accra Mall.
