The father of former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey has passed away in Accra after a short illness.
Ali Attuquaye Clottey, 63, died on Tuesday at his residence at Jamestown.
Clottey is currently in the US, where he recently lost a ten round decision to American Gabriel Rosado. The 38 year old is expected back in the country soon for the final funeral rites of his dad.
Joshua Clottey won his only world title back in 2008, when he beat Zab Judah for the IBF welterweight championship of the world. He has since remained ranked as one of the top in the division, but never won another one as he nears retirement.
