Stolen ideas, there‘s very little people get sued for in Hollywood more for. Latest on the block is The Rock, Mark Wahlberg, and HBO.
The pair have a show on the network, ‘Ballers’, which follows the lives of American football players, both on and off the field.
Two guys, Everette Silas and Sherri Littleton, are claiming in a new lawsuit that the idea was stolen from them. According to the pair, they pitched the idea to Dwayne and Wahlberg back in 2009, under the name ‘Off Season’. The deal fell apart because they insisted they be acknowledged as the creators in the credits for the show.
The lawsuit, obtained by TMZ; says the similarities between the two shows are far from a coincidence. Both shows revolve around football players and their lives off-field, both are set in Miami, and both centre around African-American athletes.
They even add that the title ‘Ballers’, is a rip-off, as that was the title of one of their proposed episodes.
The pair are seeking unspecified damages. However, a rep for HBO told TMZ, “We are confident the case has no merit.”
