In the pantheon of rap Gods gone too soon, Tupac Shakur stands head and shoulders above everyone else.
The rapper was shot to death in 1996, during the zenith of a bloody rap feud between the so-called East coast/west coast.
A biopic covering the rapper’s life is set to be released soon, and production for the iconic movie has already commenced.
Playing the dead rapper is Demetrius Shipp, Jr- an acting novice who was selected for the role due to his uncanny physical similarities with Shakur (as can be seen above).
According to TMZ, Demetrius father worked in the music business, and his young son became an instant fan of the rap legend when they met during a business meet.
The biopic would be directed by music video genius Benny Boom, whilst Jamal Woodard, who played another rapper who died too soon, Biggie Smalls, in 2009’s ‘Notorious’- stars alongside Shipp.
Producer L.T Hutton poached Shipp to the role because of his uncanny resemblance to the late rapper, and he took acting lessons four times a week to prepare for the role, due to his inexperience as an actor.
Shooting for ‘All Eyes on Me’ commenced during the week in Atlanta.
