The judicial scandal hitting the country is no longer at the forefront of the public’s consciousness, but every once in a while a development comes which we’ re surely interested in.
A couple weeks ago, twenty of the lower court judges were dismissed by the judicial service for being implicated in the scandal. Some received their end of service benefits, but most did not.
Last week the judicial service released the names of those dismissed, but withheld others because they had not been officially informed.
They have been now, and thus three more judges have no chance of corrupting another trial again. The three are Kaakyire Atta Owusu, Isaac Amoah, and Stephen Azure.
A high court registrar and a judicial official were also dismissed, without benefits.
Whilst their dismissals remained admirable, it is the least one can expect in such a blatant case of wrong doing. The biggest way to ensure this serves as a real deterrent is if they are prosecuted for their actions.
