Development Of Youth Choirs In Ghana- Top Ten Areas With A Youth Choir

Cape Coast

UCC

Ah, we reach the land of the book-long. Cape Coast is another site of huge historical significance to Ghanaians, holding countless heritages of our colonial past including the brutal Cape Coast castle. It also holds the mantle of being the Gold Coast’s first administrative capital, before the switch to Accra in 1877.

And unlike Accra, which has deteriorated due to the inability to cope with the influx of people due to commercial activity, Cape Coast retains its sereneness and child like beauty, with beautiful roads and an impressive layout Accra would envy. The annual Fetu Afahye is a cultural landmark that is a must see.

Over the years, Cape Coast  has become known for being a centre for educational excellence, and one can say that confidently without fear of being hyperbolic.

The University of Cape Coast (affectionately reffered to by its abbreviation UCC) is filled with overworked students, who nevertheless hold a morbid fascination of the school’s rigorous academic standards- eternally caught between complaining about it and taking inordinate pride in it.

Making a list of Senior High Schools in the Metropolis would be a futile exercise, but most Ghanaians should be able to name at least five top class schools from the area off the top of their heads.

Out of this fascinating locale arises the Oguaa Youth Choir. The choir, formed in 2002, is comprised of young people from the area interested in ministering through song.
