Lapaz-Toyota. Who hasn’t heard those words immortalised by Guru in his massive hit song. Known, together with sister town Abeka, for its sprawling auto industry, the township of Lapaz is more than that- at heart it is a true representation of what it means to live in Accra.

An effervescent community that seems to have grown with every subsequent visit, Lapaz lies in the Okaikoi Central constituency of the capital and is analogous to townships like Labadi and nearby Fadama- a true hub of life that literally never goes to sleep.

The famous Abrantee Spot is located in Lapaz, whilst the Lapaz station gives residents guaranteed access to almost every corner of the city. The N1 Highway also cuts through the vicinity.

From this very ‘Accra’ town, the Lapaz Community Youth Choir,emerged, founded in 2007 to give a voice to musical talents in the community. Aside age, there are no limitations to getting into the choir except the obvious- having the ability to belt out into song.
