Oseikrom! The capital of Ashantiland. It is a fact that no Ghanaian takes more pride in their hometown than the Ashantiman, and also that no Ghanaian overestimates their own worth better than the Ashantiman.

Also, we all know their ‘l’ and ‘r’ is not their plobrem. (Ha!)

The so-called Garden City of West Africa needs no introduction, home to Ghana’s largest and most powerful kingdom ever. The Asantehene, currently Osei Tutu II, rules over the land from his golden perch in Manhyia.

Kumasi is Ghana’s second largest city, and covers a collection of areas, suburbs, and towns so much so that within its enclaves, one can find everything possible to find in Ghana. From the bustling energy of the Suame Magazine, to the incessant haggling of Kejetia, to the ethnic diversity Anloga provides- Kumasi is a legit urban centre, with a bit of something for everyone.

Kumasi does not get close to the multi culturalism of Accra, as its residents like to retain a local feel to all things; leading outsiders tend to assimilate more.

For its size, history and importance in the grand scheme of things in Ghana, it is amazing Kumasi has not spawned too many well known youth choirs The Euphonic Chorale DYC, at least, bucks that trend.
