Imagine the furore if John Mahama had decided to give himself a national award?
At a special event held in Accra Friday, President John Dramani Mahama awarded several prominent Ghanaians with the highest national award- the Order of the Star of the Volta.
Those awarded include a cross section of venerable Ghanaians including the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, the former Bank of Ghana governor and Minister of Finance Kwabena Duffour, and former Chief of Staff under President Atta Mills, Henry Martey Newman.
Others include Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, the Agogohene, Nana Akuako Sarpong, Nana Ato Dadzie, Ato Ahwoi, and Lt. Gen. Peter Augustine Blay (Rtd),
The Order of the Star of the Volta is one of Ghana’s highest national awards, awarded to those who have played exceptional roles in the development of the country.
